POTSDAM, NY (11/11/2014)(readMedia)-- Crane School of Music students were invited to perform at the Guitar Foundation of America Regional Symposium in New York City on Oct. 25.

SUNY Potsdam's Crane School of Music was one of only four music schools from New York State to be invited to perform at the College Guitar Ensemble Showcase at the symposium, which was hosted by the New York City Classical Guitar Society. The Guitar Foundation of America is the leading professional classical guitar organization in North America.

Professor of Classical Guitar Dr. Douglas Rubio accompanied Crane graduate student Benjamin Rybolt '13 and undergraduate Brendon Grabowski '16, who performed as a duo in the concert. They presented two movements by 19th century composer Napoleon Coste.

In addition, Rubio was a judge for the auditions competition, which selected soloists for an evening concert featuring the GFA Regional Symposium Guitar Orchestra, alongside the New York City Guitar Orchestra.

The Crane School of Music was in good company at the symposium: The event's director, Lynn McGrath '97, is an alumna, and three other alumni also attended, including Christopher Gotzen-Berg '01, Andrew Marino '12 and Jordan Romanacce '11.

SUNY Potsdam's Crane School of Music is home to one of the strongest undergraduate classical guitar programs in the country. For more information about The Crane School of Music, please visit www.potsdam.edu/crane.
