DMV Office in Peekskill Closed Temporarily

Anticipated to Reopen By The End of Next Week

ALBANY, NY (09/07/2007)(readMedia)-- Commissioner David J. Swarts of the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) today announced that the State Office in Peekskill will remain closed temporarily. It is anticipated that the office will reopen by the end of next week.

Earlier this week, a plumbing problem located in an office above the DMV occurred during the evening hours when staff were not present and the situation was not discovered until the following morning. The problem resulted in a great deal of water damage, making the office unsuitable for business. Since then, staff and other entities have been working diligently to repair and recover from the incident.

“I would like to thank everyone helping us get the office open as soon as possible,” Commissioner Swarts said. “Because of the cooperative effort in this recovery, we are anticipating reopening by the end of next week.”

In the meantime, customers are encouraged to visit the DMV website or telephone the call center for locations and office hours of nearby offices. The website address is: www.nysdmv.com and the toll-free call center number is: 1-800-DIAL-DMV (342-5368).
