DOT Announces Route 4 Reopened Following Rock Slide Clean-Up

ALBANY, NY (10/17/2012)(readMedia)-- New York State Department of Transportation Commissioner Joan McDonald announced today that Route 4 in Comstock, north of the Village of Fort Ann, Washington County, has been reopened.

"The New York State Department of Transportation and its contractor, Reale Contracting, has worked around the clock to reopen this important corridor," Commissioner McDonald said. "It was imperative that our removal process continue unabated during this closure to ensure the safety of the traveling public and of our workers. We thank everyone for their patience and understanding."

DOT is still investigating the cause of the rock slide that occurred at about 9:15 a.m. on Monday. The slide covered approximately 200 feet of the southbound lane of U.S. Route 4, just north of Kelsey Pond Road in the hamlet of Comstock.
