Dan Torrenti Inducted Into the Oglethorpe University Athletic Hall of Fame

Powder Springs Native Honored at Alma Mater

ATLANTA, GA (06/28/2012)(readMedia)-- Dan Torrenti, a 2002 graduate, was inducted into the Oglethorpe University Athletic Hall of Fame during the 2012 Alumni Weekend gala awards ceremony. Torrenti is an Atlanta-area native and was recognized for his achievements on the University's baseball team.

Torrenti was the Oglethorpe baseball team's captain for three years. He was named All-SCAC and Team MVP in 2000. In 2001, he was named Oglethorpe Defensive Player of the Year. In 2002, Torrenti helped to lead the Stormy Petrels to win the SCAC East and was named to the All-SCAC Team, the Rawlings All-Southern Region Team, the All-SCAC Tournament Team, and earned the Team MVP for the second time.

Upon graduating with a Bachelor of Arts in history, he owned single season and/or career records in doubles, home runs, total bases, games started, runners caught stealing, and slugging percentage. Torrenti went on to graduate from Kennesaw State University with a Master in Educational Leadership and Supervision, and a beloved career in teaching and coaching baseball at the high school level.
