DANVILLE , IL (02/24/2014)(readMedia)-- Lakeview College of Nursing will gain additional space close to its current Danville, IL, location due to the generosity of Marc Paap, DMD.
Dr. Paap decided to give his former 900 square foot office space, valued at $60,000, to Lakeview because he wanted it to go to a good cause. "They'll make good use of it," he said. The office is located within the 909 professional plaza complex; immediately north of the College's main location at 903 N. Logan Ave. in Danville.
With his need for additional space, Dr. Paap decided to move next door to a larger unit in the condominium-style building once it became available.
He has gained over 500 square feet with the move to the new unit at the same 909 N. Logan address. The close move allowed Dr. Paap to keep an eye on renovations and updates that were done prior to settling into his new office environment.
Dr. Paap said he is excited to see what the College does with the space and is sure that the College will be a "good neighbor."
Lakeview College of Nursing President Sheila Mingee, said she is grateful for Dr. Paap's gift. "The new space will give us the opportunity to expand labs and clinicals. Additionally, we are hoping someday it may become a student-run health clinic," said Mingee.
Dick Shockey, Lakeview's former CEO and current building consultant, said that the College has been working on remodeling the office space to suit the College's needs. "So far the College has replaced the restrooms, updated wiring and plumbing, painted, and installed new carpet, tile and counter tops. We expect that the College will be able to begin using the new space in August with the beginning of the Fall 2014 semester," explained Shockey.
Lakeview College of Nursing has been located in the Danville Area since 1894. Currently, Lakeview offers a bachelor of science in nursing degree program in Danville as well as Charleston, IL.
