FULTON, MO (06/04/2013)(readMedia)-- Darian Lightfoot of Fort Madison, Iowa, received a Student Alumni Council Outstanding Junior Award at William Woods University's recent co-curricular honors banquet.

The Outstanding Student Awards are the only awards at William Woods University bestowed on students by the nomination and vote of other students. Nominees must demonstrate academic achievement, campus and community involvement and leadership.

Lightfoot is president of Hands Up Club, an organization for American Sign Language interpreting majors. She also is an active member of Alpha Chi Omega sorority, Student Alumni Council, Campus Activities Board, Multicultural Affairs Club, and she serves as a University Ambassador and mentor in WWU's Freshman Advantage Program.
