ALBANY, NY (01/30/2012)(readMedia)-- William H. Rooney, a resident of Darien, CT., is the new chair of the 552-member Antitrust Law Section of the New York State Bar Association.

Rooney is a partner of Willkie Farr & Gallagher in Manhattan, where he chairs the firm's antitrust practice group. He concentrates his practice in civil and criminal antitrust matters before federal courts and antitrust enforcement agencies.

A 27-year member of the State Bar, Rooney recently served as chair-elect of the Antitrust Law Section. He is past chair of the New York City Bar's Committee on Antitrust and Trade Regulation as well as past vice-chair of the Economics Committee of the American Bar Association's Section of Antitrust Law.

Rooney graduated summa cum laude from the University of Notre Dame and earned his law degree from Yale Law School. He has a diploma of law from the University of Oxford, Magdalen College, United Kingdom.

The 77,000-member New York State Bar Association is the largest voluntary state bar association in the nation. It was founded in 1876.
