HAMDEN, CT (02/18/2010)(readMedia)-- David Altschuler, of Woodbury, N.Y., received the Distinguished Alumni Award at Quinnipiac University's Winter Homecoming celebration on Feb. 6.

The Distinguished Alumni Award is presented to alumni that have displayed outstanding leadership and achievement in their careers, have continually served their local and global community, have acted as a conduit for alumni who are looking to reconnect with the university and have displayed philanthropic loyalty and bonds with Quinnipiac.

Altschuler is a certified financial planner. He earned his bachelor's degree in organizational behavior from Quinnipiac in 1972.

He has established several scholarships at Quinnipiac, including the Altschuler Award in Support of U.S. veterans, to assist children or spouses of veterans with demonstrated financial need and the Altschuler Family Scholarship to assist children of widowed or divorced parents.

Quinnipiac is a private, coeducational, nonsectarian institution located 90 minutes north of New York City and two hours from Boston.
