MILLERSVILLE, PA (05/30/2014)(readMedia)-- Delaney M. Costante, East Petersburg, Pa., has been selected to receive the Millersville University Biology Scholarship. Costante will graduate from Hempfield High School and will attend Millersville University of Pennsylvania this fall to study marine biology.
The biology scholarships are renewable awards made possible by an anonymous donor. They are for incoming biology majors who will be pursuing Bachelor of Science, Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science in Education degrees on a full-time basis. Selection is based on academic merit determined by high school class rank or GPA performance with emphasis on academic performance in mathematics and science courses and standardized test scores. The scholarship is for $3,056.
In high school, Delaney was a school library aide all four years and a volunteer at her local public library. She was on the Superior Honor Roll each year of high school while pursuing a traditional college preparatory program which included several advanced and honors level classes. She served as the president of Teen Advocates for the Protection of Species (TAPS) Club. Delaney managed campaigns to help locally and volunteered to collect donations for the Lancaster Humane League. She helped the TAPS club raise funds to adopt a manatee from the World Wildlife Fund.
