SCRANTON, PA (06/20/2011)(readMedia)-- Megan Marie Walsh, Prospect Park, and Shawn Patrick Lamb and Kaitlyn Mae Tirney, Springfield, were among the 68 students honored by The University of Scranton during its undergraduate Class Night ceremony. The Jesuit university awarded outstanding members of the Class of 2011 for academic achievement and service.
Walsh was the recipient of the Frank J. O'Hara Award for General Academic Excellence, the Excellence in Nursing Award and the Sigma Theta Tau Academic Excellence Award. She received a bachelor of science, summa cum laude, in nursing.
Walsh participated in the Honors Program. She was also a member of Sigma Theta Tau, Alpha Lambda Delta and Alpha Sigma Nu honor societies, the Student Nurses Association and "Who's Who Among Students in American Universities and Colleges." She was also an American Psychiatric Nurses Association Janssen Scholar.
Walsh plans on attending the University of Pennsylvania to earn a Master of Science in the Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner program.
She graduated from James M. Coughlin High School, Wilkes Barre.
Lamb received the Undergraduate Alumni Loyalty and Service Award. He received a bachelor of science in business.
Lamb participated in the Business Leadership Honors Program. He was named to "Who's Who Among Students in American Universities and Colleges."
Lamb was a Presidential Alumni Liaison, 2011 Class Committee Representative, Leadership Development Series Coordinator and Scranton Emerging Leaders facilitator. He also participated in varsity swimming and preformed for the Liva Arts Theatre Company.
After graduation, Lamb will pursue a Master of Science in College Student Personnel Administration at Canisius College.
He graduated from Cardinal O'Hara High School, Springfield.
Tirney received the Excellence in Business Administration Award. She received a bachelor of science, cum laude, in business administration.
Tirney, a dean's list student, was a member of the Omega Beta Sigma and Alpha Mu Gamma honor societies.
She participated in Field Hockey four years, where she was named to the Landmark Conference Academic Honor Roll.
Tirney plans to pursue a career in the insurance industry.
She is a graduate of Springfield High School, Springfield.
