Delicious School Lunch Win State Fair Awards

DES MOINES, IA (09/03/2024) (readMedia)-- Rosa Woods of Des Moines won first place and a $25 cash award in the My Favorite Sack Lunch contest judged Saturday, August 10, at the 2024 Iowa State Fair.

Nora Petersen of Knoxville earned second place and Wyatt Swinton of Ankeny claimed third place.

Young school lunch eaters were challenged to pack a nutritional school lunch with no more than six different lunch items.

Entries were judged on nutritional value, creativity and taste.

The Iowa State Fair Food Department is the largest of any state fair in the country. There were 140 divisions, 726 classes and over 6,400 entries at this year's Fair. Food Department judging is held in the Elwell Family Food Center.
