Denison University student Stephanie Lemut, from Parma, honored for community service

GRANVILLE, OH (04/21/2014)(readMedia)-- Stephanie Lemut, a Denison University psychology major with a concentration in neuroscience from Parma, Ohio, was recognized for outstanding service to the Granville community with an honorable mention for the Louis Kussmaul Friendship Award. The Kussmaul Award Luncheon was held on Wednesday, April 16, at Denison.  Lemut's parents were present at the ceremony. 

Lemut was nominated by Susie Kalinoski, associate director for the Alford Center for Service Learning at Denison. In her nominating letter, Kalinoski wrote, "Stephanie has been involved with the Denison Community Association (DCA) for all of her four years at Denison. This year, she provided leadership and administrative oversight as a member of the DCA cabinet, the governing board of all DCA activities. Stephanie is passionate about her work with those affected by Autism Spectrum Disorder. As the chairperson for Hope for Autism over the past two years, Stephanie works with local autistic children through My Place to Be, an agency that serves children with autism in Granville and Newark. Additionally, Stephanie organized a Cleveland Clinic Conference to train Hope for Autism team members in Applied Behavior Analysis therapy and techniques."

Kalinoski added "Stephanie is a strong team player and an exemplar of Denison volunteerism. She has been an asset to Denison as well as the surrounding community."

Of Lemut, Laurel Kennedy, vice president for student development, said, "Stephanie, Denison is proud to present you as a wonderful example of town/gown friendship. Thank you for your leadership and dedication."
