AUGUSTA, ME (12/14/2012)(readMedia)-- Canadian Lt. Gen. Alain Parent, Deputy Commander of the North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD) visited the 101st Air Refueling Wing (ARW) in Bangor, Me on Dec. 4, 2012. Gen. Parent received a brief and took a tour of the base and facilities. The 101st provides refueling support for NORAD missions. Parent's visit included a tour of the new state of the art maintenance hangar where he observed a landing gear operational checkout. NORAD is a U.S.-Canadian command responsible for defending the skies over both countries. It also monitors sea traffic approaching their shores. Its headquarters are at Peterson Air Force Base, Colo.
