Dimetri Chambers earns OU Male Athlete of the Week

Junior guard Dimetri Chambers of the Oglethorpe University men's basketball team has been named the OU Male Athlete of the Week (Jan. 6-12). A Business Administration major, Chambers is a graduate of Herschel Jenkins High School (Savannah, GA).

Chambers helped lead the Stormy Petrels to a 1-1 record over the course of the weekend. He scored 29 points on 10-of-14 from the field, 5-of-8 from 3-point range, and a perfect 4-of-4 from the free-throw line in Friday's 77-75 win at Sewanee: The University of the South. He then came back with 22 points on 5-of-6 from the line on Sunday's 81-63 defeat at Centre College. He's currently fourth in the country in total steals (40) and 21st in steals per game (2.67). He's second in the SAA in scoring (21.0 PPG) and first in steals per game.

He and the Petrels will return home on Friday to take on Millsaps College at 8 p.m., then will host Birmingham-Southern College on Sunday at 3 p.m.
