Directly Impacted New Yorkers to Ask Mayoral Candidates about Homelessness and Public Housing

FHC, NPHN, and City Limits invite NYC mayoral candidates to discuss policy solutions focusing on NYCHA, affordable housing, and family homelessness

NEW YORK, NY (04/01/2025) (readMedia)-- On Monday, April 7, the Family Homelessness Coalition, National Public Housing Network, and City Limits will host a forum at the Manhattan Neighborhood Network, inviting mayoral hopefuls to discuss their positions and policy solutions regarding family homelessness and public housing. In a format that centers their priorities as constituents, impacted community members will ask candidates questions directly.

As of December, more than 130,000 New Yorkers are experiencing homelessness, including tens of thousands of children, as the city's rental vacancy rate floats at 1.4%. At the same time, the New York City Housing Authority (NYCHA), which provides affordable homes to 1 in 17 city residents, is facing nearly $80 billion in repair needs over coming years.

Ahead of the June 24th primary elections, the forum serves as an opportunity to engage candidates around their campaign plans to address residents' concerns in the midst of NYC's historic housing crisis. The forum is free and open to the public.
