READING, PA (04/22/2013)(readMedia)-- Dolores Bertoti, MSPT, of Reading, Pa., was presented with the Lindback Foundation Award in front of more than 600 people during an honors ceremony at Alvernia University, Sun., April 21, 2013. Bertoti is an associate professor and chair of Allied Health at Alvernia.

The Lindback Foundation Award for Excellence in Teaching is awarded to a full-time tenured faculty member with at least 10 years of full-time teaching at Alvernia. Factors considered include excellent performance in teaching, service, and scholarship/research.

As associate professor and chair of Allied Health and Human Services, Dolores Bertoti teaches in such areas as kinesiology, neuroscience, electrotherapy and healthcare science. She was instrumental in the development of Alvernia's new major in healthcare science, and Doctorate in Physical Therapy program.

Bertoti has been a teacher for over 20 years, a physical therapist for 38 years, has authored over twenty publications (including textbooks "Brunnstrom's Clinical Kinesiology," and "Functional Neurorehabilitation through the Lifespan") and has presented papers at countless national and international conferences in the areas of neurorehabilitation, motor control, pediatric clinical practice, electrotherapy, clinical research and university teaching and learning. She is respected by her students and colleagues who call her "an energetic teacher who sincerely cares about her students, and empowers others to be the best in their fields." In May, she will receive a Doctorate in Physical Therapy from Temple University.
