CHESTER, PA (05/10/2013)(readMedia)-- CHESTER, Pa.– Stephen Doyle of West Chester, Pa., was recently recognized at an awards ceremony for members of the ROTC program at Widener University. Doyle received the PMC Legacy Award, which is awarded to an individual who embodies the characteristics of a Pennsylvania Military College cadet. PMC is Widener's predecessor institution. A PMC cadet is said to have possessed a sense of personal responsibility and self confidence.
Doyle also received the Cecil B. DeMille Award, which is presented to a Widener cadet who has gone above and beyond in the advancement of the ROTC Department.
Doyle is a junior criminal justice major at Widener.
Widener serves as the host for Army ROTC activity at area institutions. Cadets hail from the Abington and Brandywine campuses of Pennsylvania State University, Cheyney University of Pennsylvania, Immaculata University, Neumann University, Villanova University and West Chester University of Pennsylvania to make up the Dauntless Battalion.
