Dr. Chuck Crain receives Campbellsville University's 2018 Non-Tenured Faculty Excellence Award

CAMPBELLSVILLE, KY (09/10/2018) (readMedia)-- "Dr. Crain has a heart for all students, especially the diverse population of students enrolled in our MSITM and PMBA programs based in Louisville," Dr. Donna Hedgepath, provost and vice president of academic affairs, said at Campbellsville University's chapel service Aug. 22 in Ransdell Chapel.

During this service, new faculty members were introduced, Dr. Michael V. Carter, president of Campbellsville University, gave a welcome address and awards were given out to select faculty members.

Dr. Charles "Chuck" Crain, chair of graduate business program at the Louisville Education Center and assistant professor of business, was named the 2018 non-tenured faculty member of the year.

This award is given to a faculty member who exhibits excellence in the classroom, in the community and within the lives of CU students. The award is given annually with the nominations coming from deans and administration.

Crain oversees the largest single program at CU. Hedgepath commended Crain on working with his colleagues "to build efficient and student-centered processes that allowed CU to experience record enrollment while planning for future sustainability."

Hedgepath also complimented Crain on his patience and perseverance, which allows him to lead successfully. She described Crain as one of the "most positive human beings" she knows.

"Chuck brings a very positive attitude to the School of Business, Economics and Technology," Dr. Pat Cowherd, dean of the School of Business, Economics and Technology, said. "He really cares about the success of his students and goes the extra mile to help them. He also cares about his colleagues and is available to them at any time. We consider him to be a valuable member of our team."

Crain's students are fond of him due to his availability, punctual response time, genuine care and representation of the Christian faith and the university.

In 2011, Crain joined the CU faculty as an assistant professor of business. He graduated from Northcentral University with a major in marketing. His Master in Business Administration was obtained at Campbellsville University.

Crain is married to Tina Crain. They have one son, Joseph, and a grandson, Jack.
