Dr. Claire Lavin Honored for 40 Years of Service to The College of New Rochelle

NEW ROCHELLE, NY (10/04/2011)(readMedia)-- Dr. Claire Lavin, Professor of Psychology in the Graduate School of The College of New Rochelle, was recognized and honored by President Judith Huntington for her 40 years of service to CNR at the annual opening of school dinner for the College held on Friday, September 16, 2011.
Dr. Lavin came to CNR in 1971 as an Assistant Professor and, as President Huntington said in recognizing her long tenure, "for 40 years this institution has been the grateful beneficiary of her remarkable energy and talents in service to our students, the Graduate School, the College, and her profession."
In all these years she has been a role model to students of the College as she has managed to balance her professional roles as educator, administrator and psychologist with her personal roles as wife and mother.
Dr. Lavin holds a New York State licenses as a Psychologist, School Psychologist, Elementary Principal, Teacher of Special Education and Teacher.
Professionally, she is a founding member of the Association of Women Administrators of Westchester, and as a woman of deep and abiding faith, she was in 1989 installed as a Dame of Malta by Cardinal O'Connor.
In concluding her remarks about Dr. Lavin, President Huntington summed up, " We have been honored to have Claire as faculty colleague and administrator and privileged to have her prodigious talents so graciously put in service to the institution, and tonight I am delighted to pay tribute to this remarkable woman and to a splendid career that spans 40 years of dedicated service."
