Dr. Jim McFarland to present first Noon Organ Series Recital of spring semester Feb. 19 at Campbellsville U

CAMPBELLSVILLE, KY (02/04/2019) (readMedia)-- Dr. Jim McFarland of Louisville will present Campbellsville University's first Noon Organ Recital in the spring series at 12:20 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 19 in Ransdell Chapel, 401 N. Hoskins Ave., Campbellsvillle.

The recital is free and open to the public and will conclude at 12:50 p.m. in time for those attending to return to work.

He will present a short program of works by Brahms, Franck, Lemmens, Howells and Karg-Elert.

McFarland completed both his Master of Music degree and his Doctor of Musical Arts degree at the University of Kentucky as a student of Dr. Schuyler Robinson.

Additionally, he has studied with Professor Stefan Klinda of the Mozarteum in Salzburg, Austria. McFarland graduated with a Bachelor of Music in Church Music and a Bachelor of Arts in Music from Union College in Barbourville, Ky.

McFarland has been active in music ministry for over 30 years having served in Episcopal, Catholic, Presbyterian, Disciples of Christ and United Methodist congregations.

He has recently celebrated six years as director of music ministries at St. Paul United Methodist Church after having served as director of music at First United Methodist Church of Victoria, Texas for the previous eight years.

In addition to his ministry, McFarland has also been an educator for the last 25 years. He has served in various capacities on the faculties of Union College, Georgetown College and Transylvania University in Kentucky, as well as Victoria College in Victoria, Texas.

He is married to Becky Grigsby McFarland, and they have two sons, Andrew and Patrick.
