Dr. John Deaver to be Campbellsville University's next Noon Organ Series recitalist

CAMPBELLSVILLE, KY (02/27/2018) (readMedia)-- CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. - Dr. John Deaver, director of music and organist at Trinity Episcopal Church in Covington, Ky., will give Campbellsville University's Noon Organ Recital Tuesday, March 6 at 12:20 p.m. in the Ransdell Chapel located at 401 N. Hoskins Ave., Campbellsville Ky.

He will be playing the First Organ Sonata by Felix Mendelssohn, Louis Vierne's "Carillon de Westminster" and David Conte's "Soliloquy."

The recital is free and open to the public and will end at 12:50 p.m. in time for those attending to return to work.

The series provides organ music from the 1894 Farrand and Votey Organ in Ransdell Chapel which is enlarged to 51 ranks by Moeller, Pilcher and Milnar Organ Companies.

Deaver has served Trinity Episcopal Church since September 1980 and the Convent of the Transfiguration (Episcopal) in Glendale, Ohio since 1981.

Deaver is also an adjunct assistant professor of organ at the College-Conservatory of Music of the University of Cincinnati.

He is active in the Cincinnati Chapter of the American Guild of Organists, the Association of Anglican Musicians, where he has served as secretary and publicist and secretary of the Anglican Musicians Foundation.

Deaver holds degrees from Davidson College, Peabody Conservatory of Music of Johns Hopkins University and the College-Conservatory of Music of the University of Cincinnati.

He has studied under Robert Gary, Arthur Rhea, Wilmer Hayden Welsh and Carol Broman. In recent years he has played in master classes of Oliver Latry, Jean-Baptiste Robin, Harald Vogel, Margaret Phillips, Ewald Kooiman and Loic Mallie at Haarlem Summer Organ Academy in The Netherlands.
