ST. LOUIS, MO (06/06/2012)(readMedia)-- Several notable educators have been added to Missouri Baptist University faculty fall 2012.
MBU's growing degree programs and increasing enrollment have contributed to the expansion of some divisions and academic concentrations. Jonathan Blackmon of Houston, Texas, was appointed by the Board of Trustees February 2012.
Dr. Jonathan C. Blackmon, Associate Professor of Music – Blackmon will join the Fine Arts staff as an associate professor of music this fall, also working in the area of worship arts and becoming the faculty sponsor for MBU's student ministry groups. Blackmon holds a Bachelor of Music in vocal performance from Howard Payne University, and a Master of Music and doctorate in Church Music from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. Formerly an assistant professor in church music at Houston Baptist University, he also served as a lecturer and graduate assistant at SWBTS. In ministry, Blackmon has held positions in worship and music as well as youth and general ministry areas. Blackmon is a member of the Evangelical Theological Society, the Hymn Society in the United States and Canada, and the American Choral Directors Association.
