Dr. Kathleen Rosenberry Mayes Receives Ivor Griffith Service Award at USciences' Reunion

PHILADELPHIA, PA (10/11/2012)(readMedia)-- Kathleen Rosenberry Mayes P'76, PharmD'78 was presented with the Ivor Griffith Service Award at University of the Sciences' Alumni Reunion on Sept. 29, 2012. The award is presented to an individual who has voluntarily given his/her time and service in outstand¬ing fashion to the University either directly or through his/her activity in the USciences Alumni Association.

Since 2004, Dr. Mayes has been a member of USciences board of trustees, and in 2007, was appointed to the board's executive committee. She was recently named vice chair of the board. Last year, Chairman Marvin Samson asked her to chair the Presidential Search Committee which resulted in the naming of Dr. Helen F. Giles-Gee the University's 22nd president.

Upon completion of a residency in pediatrics, Dr. Mayes made history as the first clinical pharmacist employed by the pharmacy department at The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia. In 1991, she started her own company, Applied Clinical Communications and developed a company dedicated to providing medical education content to the pharmaceutical industry. In 2000, after creating value as a market leader, Applied Clinical Communications was purchased by UnitedHealth Group to become one of the companies that formed Ingenix Pharmaceutical Services. Dr. Mayes was president of marketing for Ingenix from 2000 to 2002 before retiring.

Dr. Mayes lives with her husband Jim, in Coral Gables, Florida. Through their generous donations and ongoing commitment to addressing our country's healthcare needs, they have helped to sponsor the USciences' Mayes College of Healthcare Business and Policy. They have three daughters and three grandchildren.
