Dr. Mark Price to Discuss the Great Recession at LVC

ANNVILLE, PA (03/10/2011)(readMedia)-- Dr. Mark Price, labor economist at the Keystone Research Center, will present "A review of the aftermath of the Great Recession and how it fits in to recent US Economics History" on Mar. 21 at 7 p.m. in Lebanon Valley College's Miller Chapel 101. He is the featured speaker for the C.F. Joseph Tom lecture sponsored by Department of Business and Economics. Tom, who died in 2004, taught economics at the College for three decades.

Price received a Ph.D. in economics from the University of Utah and is frequently cited in economics reporting in Pennsylvania media outlets. His dissertation, State Prevailing Wage Laws and Construction Labor Markets, was recognized with an Honorable Mention in the 2006 Thomas A. Kochan and Stephen R. Sleigh Best Dissertation Awards Competition sponsored by the Labor and Employment Relations Association.

He is an expert in income inequality, trends in employment and compensation, the construction industry, and low-wage labor markets. Most recently he consulted with the Pennsylvania Department of Labor and Industry in creating the report A Profile of Pennsylvania's Unemployed People.

Price's work for the Keystone Research Center has included reports profiling the state of women in the Pennsylvania workforce, and a nationally recognized report tracking the educational qualifications of the early childhood workforce in the United States. He has taught as an adjunct instructor at the University of Utah, Dickinson College, and Penn State University.
