Dresher Resident Ira Taffer Elected Vice Chair of Drexel University's Alumni Board of Governors

PHILADELPHIA, PA (08/08/2011)(readMedia)-- The Drexel University Alumni Association announced the newly elected members of its Board of Governors Executive Committee for the 2011-2013 term. Elected to the position of vice chair is Dresher resident Ira Taffer, Ph.D. '79, '83.

Taffer served as secretary on the Board for the 2009-2011 term. Throughout his years of involvement with the Board of Governors, he has actively participated in Board activities and served on several committees including the Student Relations Committee. As chair of the Student Relations Committee, Taffer has started several new initiatives including the establishment of the Alumni Leadership Library, the Dinner with 12 Dragons program as well as the creation of the New Graduate Guide.

"In my role as vice chair, one of the things I would like to focus on is increasing the participation of alumni in the Association with an emphasis on young alumni, meaning those who have graduated within the last ten years," said Taffer.

Now retired, Taffer is the former vice president of BIOMOL International LP, which is a leading manufacturer of innovative life science reagents.

Founded in 1965, the Drexel University Alumni Association is dedicated to keeping alumni in touch, informed, involved and invested in the university. The Alumni Association continuously works to strengthen the lifelong bond between Drexel and its alumni, to support and enhance the student experience and to help shape the future of Drexel.
