HAMPDEN-SYDNEY, VA (05/09/2012)(readMedia)-- At Final Convocation on April 26, Hampden-Sydney College senior Richard Andrew Whitt received the American Chemical Society Award, presented by Dr. C. William Anderson, Elliott Professor of Chemistry. Sponsored by the Virginia chapter of the American Chemical Society, this award goes to a senior chemistry major who has demonstrated outstanding scholarship.

A Madison Scholar, Drew has played varsity soccer and served as President of the Pre-Health Society and Secretary of the Classics Club. He is a member of the honor society Eta Sigma Phi (classics). A chemistry major, Drew graduated from George Washington High School and is the son of Mr. & Mrs. Robert H. Whitt, Jr. of Danville.
