Duley Named Assistant Director of the Technical Assistance Center

PLATTSBURGH, NY (01/06/2009)(readMedia)-- Victoria Zinser Duley has been promoted to assistant director of SUNY Plattsburgh's Technical Assistance Center. In this role, Duley, who formerly served as an economic development specialist at the center, will provide management over a wide variety of economic and community development programs, carry out research and interface with the community to meet its informational needs in these areas.

In addition to her work with the TAC, Duley will continue to serve as an adjunct lecturer in the State University of New York College at Plattsburgh's Department of Geography.

"Victoria's work at TAC has been exemplary," said Howard Lowe, director of economic development at the center. "Her knowledge and experience in economic and community development are assets for both the campus and the greater community. She has been instrumental in expanding TAC's services to public and private organizations and businesses in northern New York.

"I am very pleased that she is willing to take on additional responsibilities, given the increased requests for TAC's research and project management services," added Lowe.

"I am happy to play a continuing role in the excellent work that the Technical Assistance Center is doing in our region and across New York State," said Duley. "As new fiscal realities continue to impact all sectors of our economy, unique partnerships between the public and private sectors, including the state universities, become even more relevant. TAC is well-positioned to help communities and corporations with analysis and development to weather difficult times. I look forward to our ongoing work in the areas of community and economic development."

A Clinton County native, Duley earned a bachelor's in environmental science from the University of New Hampshire and a master's in regional planning from the University of Albany. She is accredited as a planner by the American Institute of Certified Planners and is certified as an economic developer by the International Economic Development Council.

Her previous employment experience includes serving as vice president of the Development Corporation of Clinton County, a regional economic development organization, and work as the executive director of Friends of the North Country Inc., a non-profit community development agency in Keeseville, N.Y. She also served as a planner in both the public and private sectors in Palm Beach County, Fla.

Duley lives in Beekmantown, N.Y., with her husband Christopher and their three dogs. She enjoys travel, reading and many outdoor activities including sailing hiking and biking.

TAC is the economic development outreach arm of SUNY Plattsburgh. It provides technical assistance to public and private sector organizations with the goal of enhancing economic development across the 16 counties of northern New York. Its mission is to increase the region's capacity to stimulate economic growth through technical assistance, applied research and information services. It leverages the resources of the college and its allies and partners, utilizing expert faculty and staff, libraries, laboratories and other resources to focus on economic development at the local level.
