During National Recovery Month, Phoenix House to Launch Mobile Wellness Outreach Van Outside Barclays Center

To fight the overdose crisis, Phoenix House's new Neighborhood Outreach Wellness (NOW) van will meet community members across the borough with recovery resources, peer support, education, and Narcan training-plus harm reduction and engagement services

BROOKLYN, NY (09/23/2026) (readMedia)-- Today, during National Recovery Month, Phoenix House of New York & Long Island will host a ribbon-cutting ceremony outside the Barclays Center celebrating the launch of its Neighborhood Outreach Wellness (NOW) mobile recovery services van, which will meet communities across Brooklyn with resources to fight the overdose crisis. Press are welcome to tour the van and take interviews with Phoenix House leadership.

The mobile van will serve as a boroughwide extension of Phoenix House's Brooklyn Community Recovery Center (BKCRC), which is based in Bedford Stuyvesant-Crown Heights, a neighborhood where the fatal overdose rate remains 31.9 per 100,000 residents, the 9th highest in New York City. Brooklynites will gain access to Narcan training, peer support, and education - plus harm reduction and engagement services on-the-go within the neighborhoods disproportionately affected by the overdose crisis: East New York, Brownsville, Flatbush, Williamsburg, and Bushwick.
