Dutchess County Conservatives Endorse Treadwell for Congress

HALFMOON, NY (06/03/2008)(readMedia)-- Former New York Secretary of State Sandy Treadwell, Republican candidate for the 20th Congressional District, announced that he has received the endorsement of the Dutchess County Conservative Committee.

“I take great pride in receiving the endorsement of the Dutchess County Conservative Party and look forward to having their support as we promote our message across the district,” Treadwell said. “The people of the 20th CD want their views to be heard in Washington and I am committed to ensuring that government not only listens, but takes the necessary action to benefit our communities.”

Pat Killian, chair of the Dutchess County Conservative Party, said, “Sandy Treadwell has proven that he understands the needs of the people, including the importance of cutting taxes and government bureaucracy. Our committee strongly believes that he will provide leadership in promoting critical issues that are vital to our county and will always fight for what is best for us. We are pleased to support his candidacy and will work to help him be elected this November.”

The Dutchess County Conservative Party made its endorsement following a full party meeting Monday evening (June 2nd).

Treadwell, a fiscal conservative, has signed the Taxpayer Protection Pledge and will oppose any proposed tax increases on individuals or businesses. Treadwell, who served as New York Secretary of State for six years, has called for greater control of government spending, more fiscal accountability, reform of the flawed federal earmark system, greater energy independence, and stronger enforcement of our nation’s borders.

The Dutchess County Conservative Party is the sixth conservative party in the 20th CD to endorse Treadwell, joining Columbia, Delaware, Greene, Rensselaer and Otsego.

The 20th Congressional District includes all or part of the following ten counties: Columbia, Delaware, Dutchess, Essex, Greene, Otsego, Rensselaer, Saratoga, Warren, and Washington.
