ELIZABETHTOWN, PA (10/03/2013)(readMedia)-- Elizabethtown College recently unveiled E-town NOW, a dynamic on-campus newsroom with a purposefully interactive venue. Designed to tell the story of Elizabethtown College in a fresh and timely manner, original content is published almost every day, and the online newsroom encourages user participation through social sharing and commenting.
"News, today, is all about conversations," said Donna Talarico-Beerman, director of integrated communications at Elizabethtown College and editor of the publication. "We developed E-town NOW with reader participation in mind, such as giving the ability to comment on stories and share content via social media channels. Additionally, we welcome story ideas and feedback through a web form."
E-town NOW, just two months old, highlights academic and cultural programs, research, accomplishments and profiles, service programs, links to the College's other online publications and stories that feature the College in other media. The online publication aims to share stories of interest not only with the immediate campus community but also with alumni, parents and family members, retired staff and faculty members, friends of the College, peer institutions and the greater media. In addition to stories, the multimedia publication includes short video features and infographics.
"We realize there are many ways to tell a story," said Talarico-Beerman.
E-town NOW is managed by Elizabethtown College's Office of Marketing and Communications. In addition to Talarico-Beerman as editor, the staff includes Elizabeth Harvey, the College's communications manager, as news editor, and students-communications, English and social work-who write news and features stories, some as part of a College internship.
