STORM LAKE, IA (04/18/2019) (readMedia)-- Buena Vista University's (BVU) 15th annual Scholars Day will be held Saturday, April 27 in the Harold Walter Siebens School of Business/Siebens Forum on the campus of BVU. The event provides students from all disciplines an opportunity to present their best original research, scholarly work, artistic creations, and performances, to their peers, professors, and the public.
This year's Scholars Day event will include more than 60 presentations and posters, exploring topics from literature and education to science and history.
"Scholars Day is an opportunity for students to present their best academic work to their peers, faculty, family, friends, and influential people in their life," says Dr. Tracy Thomas, assistant professor of psychology and chair of the events committee that organizes the event. "Not only do students benefit from the opportunity to present their work, but the BVU and Storm Lake communities benefit from the chance to see the great work being done by BVU students."
The keynote speakers for the event are Ms. Barb Lange '92, Storm Lake Elementary School principal, and Mr. Michael Sullivan '05, assistant principal at Storm Lake Elementary School. These two BVU alumni will reflect on their experiences at BVU and share their ideas on how to achieve success in presentations that begin at noon in Anderson Auditorium. Following a 1 p.m. group photo for participants on the staircase inside Siebens Forum, poster presentations occur from 1:15 to 2:45 p.m. in Siebens Forum, followed by verbal presentations in Siebens Forum from 2:45 to 5 p.m.
