Earlham Rabbit Claims Biggest Bunny Title at Iowa State Fair

DES MOINES, IA (08/23/2010)(readMedia)-- "Baby," a 2-year old rabbit owned by Mark Brede of Earlham, tipped the official scales at 20 pounds 3 ounces to win the Largest Rabbit contest judged Friday at the 2010 Iowa State Fair.

"Punkin," owned by Lathon Tosar of Perry claimed second place at 18 pounds and 3.5 ounces.

"Grayson," owned by Bambi Thomas of Carlisle took third place, weighing in at 15 pounds and 9.5 ounces.

Fourth place honors when to 15 pounds 5 ounces "Abominable," owned by Walter Rathke of Swedsburg, Neb.

Baby will be on display in the Pigeon/Poultry/Rabbit Building throughout the Fair.

"Non Stop Fun" at the Iowa State Fair runs through August 22. The Fairgrounds are located at East 30th and East University Avenue, just 10 minutes east of downtown Des Moines, and are open 7 a.m. to 1 a.m. each day of the Fair. Exhibit hours may vary.
