ALBANY, NY (04/09/2013)(readMedia)-- Mark Mambretti, principal at East Aurora Middle School, has been selected as the 2013 New York State Middle School Principal of the Year by the School Administrators Association of New York State (SAANYS). This award is given annually to a member of SAANYS and the National Association of Secondary School Principals (NASSP) who has set the pace, character, and quality of education for the children in his or her school. Nominees are administrators who are committed to students, parents, and the community and have shown exceptional contributions to the educational process.
Mambretti has been an educator for 11 years and a school administrator in his current position since 2008. East Aurora is a suburban school with approximately 600 students, grades 5-8, in Erie County. East Aurora Middle School was selected as a 2012 National Blue Ribbon School of Excellence. Mambretti notes: "The district's tagline is Educated in East Aurora today to help serve the community tomorrow! And this focus on serving the larger community is what drives everything that we do. While our academic successes have us ranked in the top ten of public middle schools in all of Western New York, we believe that it is our unwavering focus on the development of the whole child that sets us apart from our peers and makes us worthy of Blue Ribbon status."
In letters of recommendation from faculty, parents, and students, Mambretti is complimented on his leadership and communication skills, as well as his deep knowledge of best education practices, and his many accomplishments. District Superintendent Brian Russ stated, "Mr. Mambretti's level of dedication to his students, teachers, and the district is exemplary and has allowed the school district to flourish, creating an atmosphere that supports innovative instruction and provides an exceptional learning experience for our students."
Mambretti will be honored for his accomplishments at an awards ceremony on May 10, 2013 at the Century House in Latham, New York. As the SAANYS/NASSP Middle School Principal of the Year, Mambretti is now a candidate for the award of National Middle School Principal of the Year, an award sponsored by the National Association of Secondary School Principals (NASSP) and The Metropolitan Life Insurance Company. A principals institute and awards ceremony sponsored by NASSP and MetLife will be held in Washington, DC this fall.
