EAST HAMPTON, NY (08/13/2025) (readMedia)-- On Saturday, August 16, Phoenix House of New York & Long Island will host a special pregame ahead of the 77th annual Artists & Writers Charity Softball Game. For 77 years, this East End tradition has supported vital programs like Wainscott Residential, which helps young men overcome addiction.
Each year, A&W hosts a fierce competition for local residents and celebrities who go to bat for the championship. All proceeds go to community organizations providing vital human services to the East End. Phoenix House's free event will bring together families for an afternoon of face painting, mocktails, and food before the ballgame.
In 2023 alone, there were 463 fatal overdoses and 5,956 admissions to the Office of Addiction Services and Supports (OASAS) throughout Suffolk County. Community members will have the opportunity to connect with staff and leadership, and learn about available programming and treatment services at Wainscott Residential.
