BURLINGTON, VT (06/11/2010)(readMedia)-- East Stroudsburg resident Chrissaida Crawford, who graduated this year from the University of Vermont with a major in biology, is the 2010 recipient of The Class of '67 Award. The award recognizes a senior student who has been an active member of the university community in student organizations, leadership, and/or varsity athletics.
Crawford, who also completed an ALANA Ethnic Studies minor, was heavily involved in campus activities. She was a member and held leadership roles in the ALANA House in the Living/Learning Center, in the Urban Flava Step Team, the Black Student Union, Tower Honor Society, Lambda Alpha Theta Latin Sorority, and Class Councils. She served as a resident assistant for Residential Life, participated in the Next Step Retreat, Relay for Life, Alternative Spring Break, and is an ALANA Mentor.
Crawford captured her UVM experience with these words: "My time here at the university has been both mind invigorating and body fulfilling through education, leadership, and service to all students and the community."
The award was announced at the University of Vermont's 206th Commencement ceremonies on May 23, where some 2,411 students were awarded a variety of bachelor's degrees, an estimated 514 advanced degrees and certificates were awarded by the UVM Graduate College and approximately 102 women and men took the oath of Hippocrates following the awarding of their M.D. degrees.
