EVANSVILLE, IN (11/15/2011)(readMedia)-- The University of Evansville is proud to announce that Elizabeth Bostelman, a senior archaeology major from Columbus, Indiana, recently held a public presentation entitled "University of Evansville's Military History Project: From the Civil War to Afghanistan and Iraq." The event took place on Veterans Day, November 11, in Eykamp Hall in UE's Ridgway University Center.
The public presentation was the culmination of Bostelman's yearlong research project on UE's military history. Her research covered the period from the Civil War through the present day, when the University of Evansville's Yellow Ribbon Program provides free tuition to military veterans who have served 36 months of active duty since 9/11.
To gather information for her research project, Bostelman worked with the Indiana Department of Records, studied materials from the University of Evansville library archives, and interviewed members of the campus community about their experiences as military veterans.
"This project has provided me with an in-depth view on an often forgotten aspect of campus," Bostelman said. "I hope that this project continues after I graduate, continuing to expand the campus' awareness and appreciation of veterans."
Bostelman is a 2008 homeschool graduate and the daughter of Michael and Carole Bostelman.
