ELIZABETHTOWN, PA (09/19/2014)(readMedia)-- Elizabethtown College President Carl J. Strikwerda will speak at the Fourth Annual President's Interfaith and Community Service Campus Challenge National Gathering taking place Sept. 22 and 23 at The George Washington University in Washington, D.C.
Sponsored by the White House and Inter-Faith Youth Core (IFYC), the leading collegiate interfaith organization, the Gathering will bring together 500 college leaders, including 60 presidents. Strikwerda will serve on the panel "Connecting Mission to Action: Prioritizing Interfaith Cooperation as a College President" and share the progress made by Elizabethtown College in interfaith understanding. Rev. Tracy Sadd, Elizabethtown College chaplain, also will serve on a panel, "Partnering with IFYC to Achieve Campus Impact."
As part of the gathering, Strikwerda will take part in plenary sessions "Power of Interfaith Work," "Effective Practices in Campus Interfaith Work" and "Celebration and Inspiration."
He will have the opportunity to sit in on discussions with other college representatives concerning connecting military service and community service, interfaith programming, religious liberty and expression on campus, strategies for interfaith organizing, interreligious education, program evaluation, digital media for interfaith engagement, LGBT community engagement, community partner relationships, civic engagement and safe spaces.
