Emily Blacker of Perry Hall Participates in Senior Reading

CHESTERTOWN, MD (05/02/2013)(readMedia)-- Washington College is pleased to announce that Emily Blackner '13 of Perry Hall, MD, recently participated in the College's annual Senior Reading, sponsored by the Rose O'Neill Literary House. Blackner has been writing since the age of nine and focuses on creative nonfiction, personal essays and journalism.
A graduate of Perry Hall High School, Blackner, an English major with a double minor in creative writing and political science, has served on the staff of the Washington College student newspaper, The Elm, for three years; she currently holds the position of news editor. She also works as an intern in the Office of College Relations and Marketing.
Blackner is a member of Phi Beta Kappa and Pi Sigma Alpha (the national political science honor society), and is vice president of Sigma Tau Delta (the national English honor society). Her work has been featured in the WC Review and the Washington College Magazine.
Founded in 1782 under the patronage of George Washington, Washington College is a private, independent college of liberal arts and sciences located in colonial Chestertown on Maryland's Eastern Shore.
