Emily MacDonald won the Bernd Heinrich Award at the University of Vermont this semester. This award is presented annually to a student with outstanding academic performance and excellence in research in biology.
Dr. Heinrich, Emeritus Professor of Biology, has been a member of the UVM biology department since 1980. He has had a long career in science in ecological physiology, animal behavior, and evolutionary ecology. Dr. Heinrich has produced hundreds of publications in the best journals and is often regarded as one of the world's foremost ecologists and naturalists.
