MILLERSVILLE, PA (05/25/2011)(readMedia)-- Emily R. Copenhaver of Greencastle, Pa. has been selected to receive the Farster Scholarship at Millersville University for the 2011-2012 academic year. The award is given to students who are pursuing a degree in mathematics education, have a strong academic record and display financial need.
Copenhaver will attend Millersville University this fall, majoring in mathematics education. She completed a traditional college preparatory program at Greencastle-Antrim High School, including the completion of several advanced placement (AP) courses in calculus, U.S. government and Latin. Copenhaver was a member of the National Honor Society and served as the president during her senior year. She was also a member of the John Hopkins Center for Talented Youth and was a cheerleader for all four years of high school.
The Farster Scholarship is awarded in the amount of $2,268 to be split evenly between the fall and spring semesters. It is renewable for up to six semesters providing the student keeps a 2.5 grade point average and continues to pursue a degree in mathematics education.
