EMPORIA, KS (05/31/2011)(readMedia)-- Mary Kramer of Manhattan, Kan., was among nearly 60 students inducted into the Phi Kappa Phi honor society at Emporia State University during ceremonies May 13.
Phi Kappa Phi is the oldest and largest national honor society that recognizes and promotes superior scholarship in all academic disciplines in higher education. Since the ESU chapter was founded in 1980, more than 1,000 students and faculty have been initiated into membership.
To be elected to membership, individuals must be of good character and outstanding scholarship. The society elects from the upper 7.5 percent of the students who have reached the final period of their junior year, the upper 10 percent of senior students, and outstanding graduate students, alumni, and faculty.
Kramer is a graduate student majoring in library science.
