Emporia State's Ashley Vogts to participate in conference with Obama Administration

EMPORIA, KAN. (04/12/2012)(readMedia)-- Ashley Vogts, president of Emporia State University's Associated Student Government, will be one of more than 100 student leaders from across the country to participate in the National Campus Leadership Council's White House Leadership Summit this weekend.

Vogts, a senior from Canton, Kan., will attend the two-day conference this weekend in Washington, D.C. The event was planned in conjunction with the White House Office of Public Engagment with one purpose: voicing the concerns of students and young Americans to the people who are making critical policy decisions.

During Saturday's sessions at the White House, Vogts and other student leaders will meet with officials in the Obama Administration to discuss issues ranging from financial aid and student debt, employment and youth entrepreneurship to service.

Sunday's sessions at American University focus exclusively on student government with breakout sessions on building better communities, campus sustainability and budget cuts and local funding.
