Environmental Advocates of New York Responds to DEC Commissioner's Remarks on DRBC Fracking Regulations

ALBANY, NY (11/10/2011)(readMedia)-- In response to Department of Environmental Conservation Commissioner Joe Martens' announcement yesterday that New York State will vote 'no' on the Delaware River Basin Commission's recently released regulations for industrial gas drilling and fracking, Environmental Advocates of New York released the following statement:

"Environmental Advocates of New York applauds Commissioner Martens for announcing that New York will vote 'no' on the Delaware River Basin Commission's fracking regulations. The proposed regulations are insufficient to protect New York's water or our communities and simply don't make sense.

The Commission should wait for the Department of Environmental Conservation to complete its ongoing environmental review."
