Professional development courses offered this fall include:
Tuesday and Thursday, Oct. 5 and 7: Improving Your ME Factor - 6:30 – 8:30 p.m. Are you unemployed, underemployed, or just fed up? Boost your earnings potential by learning the practical skills to become self-confident, assertive, and persuasive so you can achieve what you want from your career. "Improving Your ME Factor," explores how you feel about yourself in today's competitive world. The course is taught by a top salesperson with over thirty years experience in the hearing health industry. (2 classes – fee is $48)
Wednesdays, Oct. 6 and 13, 6:30 – 9 p.m.: Save a Life (Adult, Child, and Infant CPR) Learn cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) for adults, children and infants. This course will also demonstrate the use of the Automated External Defibrillator (AED) and present general emergency care. Class limited to 18. (2 classes – fee is $45, plus optional $10 book)
Wednesday, Oct. 13, 6:15 – 9:15 p.m.: The Informed Investor, Session I
Wednesday, Oct. 20, 6:15 – 9:15 p.m.: The Informed Investor, Session II
Each of us has to plan for the day when we stop working and must rely on savings to fund our living expenses. This course will help you to become an informed investor. Topics covered include developing an investment strategy, determining your personal risk tolerance, asset allocation, the building blocks of a globally diversified portfolio, and how to measure and monitor investment performance. The course is designed for the do-it-yourself investor; however I will provide tips on how to choose and evaluate an investment advisor. The course is taught by fee-only, certified financial planner™ Anthony Farella, principal of Rockbridge Investment Management, LLC. Tuition is charged per couple. (1 class - $50 per session)
Monday and Wednesday, Nov. 1 and 3, 6 – 7:30 p.m.: Introduction to eBay – Learn the basics of buying and selling on eBay. Create your own account and learn how to perform searches to find the items of your interest. The basics of bidding, paying for your items, and My eBay will be covered. Become comfortable with this amazing online tool that millions of buyers and sellers use daily. (2 classes – fee is $36)
Friday, Nov. 19, 6 – 8:30 p.m.: Basics of Skype – Learn the basics of this popular Internet communication software, including installation, general use, standard features, and common troubleshooting. This course will introduce you to a world beyond your computer screen, allowing you to connect with family and friends no matter where in the world they live. This free software gives you Internet communication in the form of typing chat, video chat, phone capabilities, as well as conference call capabilities. (1 class – fee is $30)
