Family Day Returns to SUNY Delhi with "Something for Everyone"

DELHI, NY (09/20/2016)(readMedia)-- Family Day, one of SUNY Delhi's most popular annual traditions, returns to campus on Saturday, September 24, for a full day of family fun. Themed "Something for Everyone" this year, Family Day offers students an opportunity to give their families a taste of life at SUNY Delhi while enjoying dozens of activities from every corner of campus and beyond.

SUNY Delhi and the broader Delhi community collaborate to hold Family Day simultaneously with the Village of Delhi's Harvest Festival, extending the festivities and celebrating the beautiful fall season in upstate New York. Both the Harvest Festival and the Cruise-In Car Show are free and open to the public. SUNY Delhi will provide shuttles from campus to the Harvest Festival and to the Car Show, on lower campus, for Family Day guests.

Family Day activities will begin at 10 a.m. and continue throughout the day. They will include animal exhibitions, a horse-drawn wagon, children's' activities, a family game show, ice carving, family photos, academic program demonstrations, contests, live music and a Family Golf Outing on The College Golf Course. Parents of honor students will be invited to attend an Academic Honors Reception in the afternoon and sports fans can cheer on the men's soccer team and the women's tennis team as they play home matches.

The day will culminate with a Family Feast by Brooks BBQ at Clark Field House from 3:30 to 6 p.m., followed by a concert by a cappella group Kazual at 6 p.m. The group has earned rave reviews and appeared on "America's Got Talent" and will be joined onstage by SUNY Delhi's dance team, Bronco's Fynest.

"Family Day is one of SUNY Delhi's finest traditions and always a highly anticipated event," said Barbara Jones, Vice President for Student Life at SUNY Delhi. "The entire campus, as well as the wider community, has pulled together to truly offer something for everyone this year. We look forward to seeing many of our returning families, and to meeting many new ones, as they spend time with their students and enjoy the beautiful fall weather in upstate New York."
