Fenton resident Michael Doherty selected for Olivet's 2012 Homecoming Court

BOURBONNAIS, IL (11/01/2012)(readMedia)-- Michael Doherty of Fenton was part of the Queen's Court for the 58th Homecoming coronation ceremony at Olivet Nazarene University on October 31, 2012. He was the escort for Cassidy Lancaster (Lakeland, Fla.). Chosen by his peers for this honor, he is a senior and a leader among the student body. He is the son of Mike and Amy Doherty.

Doherty is a biochemistry major, and his goal is to become a pediatrician for low-income and overseas areas. While at Olivet, he has served as the treasurer of Best Buddies, president of the Chemistry Club, freshman representative to the Social Committee, and as a representative for the Center for Student Success Committee. He was also the Olivet student liaison to the Kankakee (Ill.) Area Community Advisory Panel and worked as an admissions ambassador.

Allison Wiseman (Bradford, Ohio), the Homecoming Queen, was escorted by Calum Samuelson (Federal Way, Wash.).

Other members of the 2012 Homecoming Court, all seniors, are: Lauren Beatty (Kankakee, Ill.), escorted by Jeremy Height (Indianapolis, Ind.); Whitney (Swick) Means (originally from Grinnell, Iowa), escorted by her husband, Seth Means (originally from Honey Creek, Iowa) of Bourbonnais; Taylor Polatas (Kent, Ohio), escorted by Josue Sanchez (Morelia, Mexico).

Olivet's Homecoming Queen and members of her Court have been honored each year since 1955. The Queen is a senior woman chosen by the student body. She is person of integrity; gives glory to God in her life; helps others feel loved and accepted; and expresses Olivet's academic, social, and spiritual ideals.
