Fidelis Care Partners With Catholic Charities of Delaware & Otsego Counties, and Bassett Healthcare Network

ONEONTA, NY (01/27/2012)(readMedia)-- Fidelis Care, the New York State Catholic Health Plan, is pleased to announce that representatives are holding a series of Health Insurance Open Houses in Otsego County to answer questions relating to Fidelis Care's insurance programs, and to assist interested parties in applying for coverage.

New York State has a significant population of uninsured residents under the age of 65, including more than 2.3 million adults between the ages of 19 and 64, as well as nearly 350,000 children age 18 and younger. In Otsego County, more than 7,000 adults, and approximately 2,000 children, do not have the security that health insurance provides. More than 5,000 adults, and 1,300 children, are without health insurance in Delaware County.

Those in need of health insurance are encouraged to visit with a Fidelis Care representative at any of the Open Houses listed below. Those unable to attend an Open House are encouraged to contact Fidelis Care at 1-888-343-3547 to schedule an individual consultation at a convenient time and location, including in the comfort and privacy of an applicant's home. Fidelis Care representatives are also available to assist existing members complete their annual recertification.

Catholic Charities of Otsego and Delaware Counties: Every Monday from 10:00am until 3:00pm, 176 Main Street, Oneonta.

Bassett Medical Center, Clinic Building: Every Thursday from 9:00am until 3:00pm, River Street, Cooperstown.

Fidelis Care offers free or low-cost health insurance through New York State's Child Health Plus, Family Health Plus, and Medicaid Managed Care programs. Members are covered for regular checkups, preventive care, hospital and emergency care, eye exams, dental care, and more. In addition, Fidelis Care offers a variety of benefit options for seniors through Fidelis Medicare Advantage, Dual Advantage, Medicaid Advantage Plus, and Fidelis Care at Home programs, available in select counties.

To apply for enrollment in Child Health Plus, Family Health Plus, or Medicaid Managed Care through Fidelis Care, please bring proof of age, income, and address.
