Filmmaker John Waters' right-hand man speaks at Elizabethtown College

ELIZABETHTOWN, PA (09/19/2014)(readMedia)-- Steve Yeager, Baltimore native and right-hand man of filmmaker John Waters, has been a part of the East Coast film and theatre scene for more than 25 years. His 1998 film Divine Trash, which won the Filmmakers Trophy for Best Documentary at the Sundance Film Festival, documents the early career of Waters.

Yeager visits Elizabethtown College's Bowers Writers House at 8 p.m. Friday, Sept. 26, to discuss his career and what it was like to work with John Waters. He will read from his own work.

Other Yeager films include Beyond the Bridge the Howard Rollins Story, The Connection and On the Block. He was involved in production of If the Bough Breaks, a television documentary concerning medical malpractice; In Bad Taste, a sequel to his film Divine Trash; and America's Most Wanted. He also wrote My Son, Divine a biography of character actor, Glenn Milstead, by his mother.

Yeager studied theatre at Towson University in Baltimore, directing at the Catholic University in Washington, D.C., and filmmaking at the Rockport, Maine, Cinema Workshops.

He was the founder and artistic director of the Baltimore Theatre Company at Christ's Church, where he directed more than two dozen theatrical productions.
