First Ever Maximum Security Prison Inmate-Run Gun Buy-Back Program

Pastor and Inmate connect to establish first-ever community outreach from inside prison walls

ALBANY, NY (03/29/2010)(readMedia)-- Pastor Charlie Muller of Victory Christian Church in Albany, NY and Bruce Bryant, inmate of the Sullivan Correctional Facility in New York, for the last year have collaborated to start a program that will give gift cards to residents who turn in hand guns. This week will kick off the event where inmates for the first time will be a part of the solution of getting guns off of the street and helping stop violence.

Over the last year, all clearances have been made and this week will kick of the first-ever fundraiser amongst prisoners that will go towards getting guns turned in. Kids turning in guns will receive a letter.

The New York State Prisoner Gun Buy-Back Program (NYSPGBBP) will operate as a special project (Directive 3760, V(A)) under the Quality Impact Organization. More specifically, inmate Bruce Bryant (96A5569) will work with Reverend Charles Muller, of Victory Christian Church (Albany, New York), to whom the funds will be donated.
