Fix Named Regional/District Men's Swimming and Diving Coach of the Year

BATAVIA, NY (02/13/2017) (readMedia)-- GCC swimming and diving head coach Erik Fix has been named the Region III/Northeast District men's Coach of the Year for the 2016-17 season, the third consecutive year he has earned the award. The announcement was made at the conclusion of the regional/district championships at Monroe CC on Feb. 12.

Fix led the Genesee men's program to the Region III and Northeast District titles, the first regional and district swimming and diving championships for the College since 2003-04 (women). The women finished runner-up in the region and third place in the district. In total, Genesee won 11 individual races during the championships and four relays and set numerous school records.

Currently in his sixth season at Genesee, Fix will now guide the program through the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) National Championships to end the season. The championships will run from March 1-4 at host site Erie CC in Buffalo.

Genesee Community College athletics program endeavors to provide a quality and competitive intercollegiate athletics program consistent with the National Junior Collegiate Athletics Association (NJCAA) philosophy and the overall educational mission of Genesee Community College.
